It’s about helping kids to help adults help kids

The Telecom Foundation is researching its programme of initiatives to build a better future for Kiwi kids. Rather than relying on the traditional paradigm “adults know what’s best for children”, we believe kids themselves know what truly matters to them. So we’ve decided they will play an integral role in identifying the issues and problems that the Telecom Foundation could move to address.

The vehicle for this engagement is called the Kids Council, and it’s going to be an ongoing conversation between kids and the Foundation. The collective “world view” of the Kids Council will inform the types of activity and projects the Telecom Foundation will support.

In the lead up to launch of the Foundation, workshops were held in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch giving kids the opportunity to discuss their ideas and feed their views into the Telecom Foundation.
